First Baptist observes a traditional style of worship. Our ministers rely upon the Common Lectionary to guide their selection of scriptures for sermon development. The selection of hymns evolves around the primary theme of the scripture passage selected for the worship service.
The church’s pipe organ and piano are the primary instruments used for musical support during worship services. The Sanctuary Choir presents an anthem each week that brings a sense of unity to the worship experience.
The holy seasons of the year are observed with special emphasis upon the seasons of Advent and Lent.
The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper is celebrated on World Communion Day and during other seasonal observances.
Opportunities to join our church are extended toward the end of each worship service for those who wish to make a public profession of faith, join by statement of faith or by promise of church letter. Those interested in joining the church are encouraged to talk with one of the church’s ministers.
